Jatayu Rama temple is the place where spirit of Shree Ram bearing his bow Kodanda (symbol of power, valour, and divine weaponry) is amalgamating with the mission of "woman safety" derived from Jatayu's self-sacrifice to save the life of Mata Sita Devi from Ravan. This Global Pilgrim Tourist spot is located over a 1000 feet tall rick hill in 'Jatayu Mangalam' now kown as Chadayamangalam, Kollam District, Kerala State, India. Devotees need to climb steep hill sidewalk way (hundreds of stone steps) to reach the shrine, which will take 30 to 45 minutes.
Over the 1000 feet rock hill we find "Rama Padam" Gigantic Footprint of Shree Ram embossed over rock and "Kokkarani”, the pit which has never ending springhead, filled with crystal clear water throughout the year including peak summer.
The magnificent temple stands 1000 ft above sea level, a place and the space of divinity to experience! It is filled with lush greenery of abundant Flora and Fauna ,a living example of ecological conservation and the Sthala Mahima of this place is where VeeraJatayu attained moksha by ShreeRama.
Jatayupara or Jatyu Rock is not merely a cluster of rocks, but a sanctum of divinity.!
A noble soul can feel the presence of Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman and Veera Jatayu here.Jatayu Rama Kshetra symbolises “ DHARMA “ which is as powerful as his Bow and Arrow!
The Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi invoking the Jatayu in his address at the Dussehra event in Lucknow in October 2016, told the huge gathering about the prevalence of terrorism in the ancient times and described Jatayu as the first to fight terror !
